Interview with Veronique   Gregorec

Founder and Brand Director

1. From what I have read, you founded your own company and you are a brand director! How do you find the time to work and do what you love?

It's all about balance! I am fortunate enough that my job as a brand director at A Bunch of Creatives (In fact, I am working for my best friend)  gives me the flexibility to work on my brand too. It is hard work to keep up with both but when your day job and your passion are both things you love, it doesn't feel like work at all! I am really lucky to have found this and this is why I left my corporate career in hospitality and joined a creative agency where I also get the support I need to make my brand successful! What I found the most challenging is to keep my motivation going; sometimes on weekends, you just feel like being lazy, but I use that time off to perfect the launch of my brand.

2. What inspired you to pursue your career(s) and what do you enjoy most about it?

I've always loved being creative and pursuing a career in Marketing allowed me to do just that. I've worked in a variety of industries with hospitality being the most prominent one. I just recently made the switch from a corporate company to a start up and I am loving the daily challenges that come with running a start-up company and see it evolve especially after COVID. Working for a corporate company is great to build your career but standing on your own feet, is how you'll sustain your life!

3. I'm sure starting your own business had its difficulties, what challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Starting a business, especially during COVID, was SCARY! It took me a long time to actually get going and make the move. One of the hardest things is to remain motivated. Many times, I've started, then stopped then started again, then stopped again. Now, after almost a year, my product is finally on the way to Dubai and I can't wait to launch it as I am sure it will have a big impact on people's life and make a lot of people happy!

4. Has the recent pandemic impacted your life or your career; if so, how have you stayed motivated?

I believe that pandemic has impacted everyone... and I am no different. Though I was fortunate to keep my job, I went on unpaid leave for 4 months, I was stuck in Dubai - alone and haven't seen my family for over 2 years. Thankfully my close friends were here to help through the tough times and I took this time to reflect on many things and think about what I want in my life. Funnily enough, right before lockdown I went on a last trip to Jordan to visit an old friend of mine (who also used to be my boyfriend a few years back!) and fast forward to today - we're living in Dubai as husband and wife. So the pandemic has affected my life in every good & bad way possible but I always tried to make the best out of it!

5. What advice do you have for women who are in pursuit of their dreams?

To start. Nothing is holding you back but your own fear of failing. Failure is inevitable but regret lasts forever, don't let that stop you of shining bright. If you put the work into it - you're bound to succeed; whether it takes you 1 year or 10 but you don't want to look back and say "I wish I had done this 10 years ago!|

6. What life lessons have you learnt from Covid-19 that you would like to share with other aspiring women?

Covid has taught me that nothing in life in certain and that you need a contigency plan at all times. We never know what tomorrow holds. It truly taught me to live by the day instead of thinking we'll live forever.

7. What are your goals for the upcoming year?

To launch Beachbody! Beachbody is a passion project that means so much to me and I am sure that it will make a lot of women happy. Bringing size inclusivity to the UAE means everything to me. When I look around I see brands doing regular sizes, plus sizes, but why is everyone so segregated. My aim is to show the UAE that whether you're a size S or 4XL you can wear the same swimsuit! Size inclusivity and body positivity is so important for generations to come and I am so happy to see the industry shift but there is still a long way to go and I am hoping to show the way to many other brands!

8. If you had a choice to have a superpower, what would it be?

To multiply/ clone myself! I always have so much going on so having a few of ME would be great!
