Interview with Natasha Dahdaleh

1. Why did you want to pursue a career as an artist/musician? Was this always what you wanted to do?

I wanted to pursue a career in art and music, because it was a skill that I always found most comfortable to express myself in. I absolutely love art and music and my family all knew how to play different musical instruments, our house hold was a continuous art and music studio. I was very lucky to have such support from family and friends. Also, it came very natural to me. It still does, I can't imagine my life without music or art.

2. What was the biggest challenge you faced to get to where you are today?

Being a female drummer and artist has been difficult, people assume you aren't a very good drummer just because you are a female. This is unfortunate but it's the truth.

3. What piece of advice would you give to aspiring artists or musicians?

Practicing and collaborating are skills that you should never stop as a musician and artist. Never stop performing for an audience, even if it's your siblings at home :)

4. What's the best part about your career?

Performing on stage and hearing the audience share this amazing feeling. Sharing your art and feeling the appreciation whether it was through applause or ah "oooh" and an "ah" while they stare at your paintings. Also working in a team, a band, in the art department... working towards one goal with a team is probably one of the most rewarding things ever. I absolutely love what I do, I love my job and I love art and music. I feel so lucky that I have made my hobby - my full time job :)
