Interview with Diana Zavzeatii

  1. What inspired you to pursue your career?

I knew I wanted to be a marketer even before my career began. I knew that I will be great as I was always driven by it. There were many ups and downs but eventually I got where I wanted to be. When I was growing up I was surrounded by very empowering people. My parents are fantastic, they always encouraged me to be what I wanted to be and fight for it. This career though wasn’t my first choice. I initially wanted to build a career as an economist, I even graduated with a degree in International Economic Relations, but soon enough I understood it is not what I wanted to do and I went back to school to study what I truly was passionate about: business and especially, marketing.

2. What is the best part about your job?

I work as a marketing manager inside a company that creates intelligent promo solutions. I love what I do and I am good at it. The best part is to have tangible and visible results. The fact that the promo mechanisms we develop are changing the way promotions are perceived is very rewarding. Another major plus is the team I work with. The people play a crucial part in any business. I have a wonderful team. The possibility to grow as a professional plays a huge role as well. And, it is important to always have fun at work.

3. What difficulties have you endured to get to where you are today?

I started my career right after university and my very first job was in Dubai. That was 12 years ago. One of my difficulties was to learn how to survive in the real business world. I had my share of disappointments in companies, people, even Dubai. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I learned how to go through hardships. I had many lessons to learn about trust, excellence in performance, going the extra mile and never giving up. I also learned that the universe had a bigger plan for each of us and we just need to think positive and trust the process.

4. What are your plans for the future?

For the last few years I have developed a passion for healthy lifestyle and food in particular. I run a blog called Busy Avocado and I try to be as active as possible on it. I try to provide recipes, tips and reviews that can help people switch to a better lifestyle, like I did. Luckily, my passion grew into a bigger project and at this point, besides my main job, I am dedicating a lot of time to my passion. In my future, I am seeing myself continuing to work on both. I think having a job that you  love and a hobby that you love at the same time is amazing. Both bring me so much joy.

5. What advice do you have for women across Dubai who are in pursuit of their dreams?

Women are so strong! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Be bold, be determined, keep your head up and get yourself listened. You deserve the best and you got to work for it.  Nothing will come easy, if it does than it’s not something you want to fight for. Get challenged, get inspired, get intrigued. Work very hard, follow your dreams and you will get rewarded.

6. If you were stranded on a desert island for a week, what (or who) would you want to take along with you?

Good question. I would get a guide on how to survive a week on a deserted island :D
